Smart Templates

Learn how to create Smart Templates from existing memos in Lev.

Updated July 2026

Smart Templates let you save the format of a memo you like and reuse it when building future OMs, so you don't start from scratch each time. Templates are created from within a memo, and once saved they're available whenever you create a new memo. You can also create a template from an external document by uploading a PDF file.

Create a Smart Template

Start by opening the memo you want to use as a template.

Save a memo as a Smart Template
  • Save the memo as a template — Click save memo as template on the top right of the screen.
  • Add name & description — Add a name and description for your template.
  • Finish saving — Click save copy as template; your template can now be used when creating future OMs.

Use an external file

You can also build a Smart Template from an external file instead of previously created memos. Upload a PDF document with your team's design elements to model a new template off of. This gives you another option for building templates beyond your existing OMs. So you're not limited to memos you've already created in Lev.

Upload an external file for a Smart Template
  • Open template management — In the memo editor tab, click your profile in the top right, then select Manage Templates.
  • Start a new template — Click + New Template, then select Upload External Template.
  • Choose your file — Select the file you want to model the new template off of.
  • Add name & description — Name your new template and give it a description.
  • Create the template — Click Create Template and let the platform build the draft.
  • Save your template — Make any edits, then click Save Template.
Acceptable file types

PDF is currently the only supported file type for building Smart Templates from external documents.
