Managing Your Index Data

Review, edit, and control the source of every field in Index to keep your deal data accurate and ready for document generation.

Updated May 2026

Review, edit, and control the source of every field in Index to keep your deal data accurate and ready for document generation.

The Index tab is organized into collapsible sections, each representing a category of deal data. You can expand or collapse any section to focus on what you need.

Each row in a section represents a single data field. For every field you will see:

  • Field name — the label for the data point (e.g., "Net Operating Income")
  • Value — the current active value for this field
  • Source — where the value came from (e.g., a specific uploaded file, manual entry, or an integration)

Scroll through sections or use the section headers to jump between Property, Financials, Sponsor, Market, and Comparables.

Editing a field value

You can edit any field in Index at any time. When you edit a field, your value becomes the authoritative value for the deal and is marked as manually entered.

Edit a field value in Index
  1. Find the field you want to edit. Locate the row in the relevant section of Index.
  2. Click the value to open the edit state. The field becomes editable inline.
  3. Enter your updated value and confirm. Your change is saved. The Source column updates to reflect that the value was manually entered.

Your edited value will be used in all documents generated from this deal going forward.

Correcting inaccurate source data

If none of the available sources are correct, you can edit the value manually instead. A manual entry always takes priority over any document source.

Selecting a source for a field

When multiple uploaded documents contain a value for the same field, Lev selects the most reliable one by default. You can see which document is the active source in the Source column. If you prefer a different source, you can change it without manually re-entering the value.

Select a different source for an Index field
  1. Click the Source label on the field you want to update. A dropdown appears showing all available sources for that field, including each document that contained a value and the value each one provided.
  2. Select the source you want to use. Index updates the field value to match the selected source. The Source column reflects the change.

How Lev prioritizes sources

When you upload multiple documents and do not manually select a source, Lev automatically determines which value to use based on document quality and type. In general, Lev favors:

  • More structured document types (e.g., a rent roll over a summary OM)
  • More recently uploaded documents when quality is comparable
  • Documents with higher extraction confidence

You can always override the automatic selection by choosing a different source or entering a value manually. Your team's input takes precedence over any automated selection.

When a field is empty

If a field has no value, it means Lev was not able to extract it from your uploaded documents, or no document containing that field has been uploaded yet. Empty fields will not appear in the Index today.
