Campaigns let you enroll CRM contacts in an email sequence that is not attached to a deal. You build the sequence, enroll recipients, and launch after you confirm an immediate send. A template step sends the same copy to every recipient. An agent-written step drafts a unique email for each person before you launch. Deal campaigns stay on the deal's Outreach page and are covered in Launching a Deal.
Create a campaign
- Open Campaigns — Select Campaigns in the sidebar.
- Read the list — The table shows Enrolled, Sent, Active, and Replies.
- Create the campaign — Choose Create campaign.
- Name it — Enter Name, then Create campaign.
- Choose the first email — When the dialog shows How to start this campaign:, choose Template email or Agent written email. Drafting those emails is covered in Agent-written campaign drafts.
- Open the sequence — On the campaign, select the Sequence tab. The Recipients tab is where enrollment and launch happen.
Set sequence delays
Each step after the first waits before it sends. The wait is either hours or business days.
- Add a step — On the Sequence tab, add the next email. Choose Template email for the same copy to every recipient. Agent written email is covered in Agent-written campaign drafts.
- Set an hour delay — Select hours, then enter a whole number from 1 to 23.
- Set a business-day delay — Select business days, then enter a whole number from 1 to 90.
- Set the send time — Choose Send at for the ET send time on a business-day delay. An hour delay has no send time.
- Read performance — The Sequence tab shows Sent, Active, Replies, and Bounced.
- Unlock a live step — A live sequence step stays read-only until you choose Unlock to edit. Lock it again with Lock this step. The button on the step reads Re-lock. Changes apply to active and future recipients. A deal sequence uses this same lock.
Agent-written campaign drafts
An agent-written step drafts a unique email for each recipient before you launch, on a campaign opened from the sidebar. Deal sequences keep Template email; Write with AI on a deal composer is covered in Launching a Deal.
- Add the step — On a campaign opened from Campaigns in the sidebar, open the Sequence tab, add a step, and choose Agent written email. Template email sends the same copy to every recipient. Change step type switches an existing step.
- Write the instructions — Enter the prompt, or start from Quick intro, Follow up, or Thank you.
- Draft the recipients — Recipients in Draft needed are waiting on an agent-written email. Choose Draft on the recipient, Draft selected (N) for the recipients you checked, or the banner button Draft N recipients. The banner states that Lev Agent writes each message for you to review before anything sends. A row in Sequence incomplete is waiting on sequence copy, not a draft.
- Edit a draft — Open the recipient and choose Edit this message, then Save changes. Variables in the draft stay visible while you edit.
- Regenerate — Choose Re-draft message on the recipient menu, or Regenerate drafts for this step on the sequence step.
Sending an agent-written step charges credits. A recipient can pause when credits are insufficient. Send test and Send now stay on the campaign, after the drafts are ready.
Filter recipients
The Recipients tab lists everyone enrolled. Filter recipients opens Status, and each recipient sits in one status. A selected row can also show the contact's primary email and Last contact.
- Ready to send — Drafts are in place and the recipient can launch.
- Draft needed — An agent-written step still needs a draft. Drafting is covered in Agent-written campaign drafts.
- Sequence incomplete — Shown on a pre-launch row when the sequence has no subject or message, in place of Draft needed. It is not a Status filter. The banner names the missing subject or message. Draft does not fill that gap.
- Conflict — The recipient is already live in another campaign or deal. Choose Resolve and send to take them off that campaign or deal and send them here. A mixed selection offers Send the rest (N) and Resolve and send (N).
- Active — The recipient is in the sequence.
- Paused — The sequence is paused for that recipient. Pause and Resume are on the recipient menu. Remove and resume appears when something is blocking resume.
- Exited — The recipient has left the sequence. Selecting the group includes every exit reason.
- Completed — The sequence finished.
- Replied — The recipient replied, and the sequence stopped.
- Cancelled — You chose Cancel on that recipient, and they left the sequence.
- Bounced — The email bounced.
- Declined — The recipient declined.
- Relaunched — The recipient was relaunched onto another sequence.
Exited selects every reason in that group. Clear filters removes the status filter. Cancel on the recipient menu records the reason Cancelled inside that group.
Enroll and launch
Enrollment adds people. Launch is a separate step, and an immediate send asks you to confirm first.
- Enroll recipients — On the campaign, choose Enroll. From a CRM table, or a lead-results table that shows a Campaigns column, choose Add to campaign. Create new campaign is pinned in that menu. As you type a name, it becomes Create “name”.
- Select recipients — Check the rows you want. Choose Select all, or Select all loaded when more recipients are still unloaded.
- Delete the campaign — On the campaigns list, choose Delete. The confirmation says This deletes the campaign and cancels recipients still enrolled. Choose Delete campaign to confirm. Removing a campaign from a deal confirms This removes the campaign from the deal and cancels recipients still enrolled. That deal page is covered in Launching a Deal.
- Review the row — The row shows the contact's primary email. Open the recipient to see Last contact when a prior exchange exists. Choose Open thread to open the Inbox conversation.
- Draft before you send — If the banner says recipients need their messages drafted, finish that step in Agent-written campaign drafts before launch.
- Send a test — Choose Send test from the recipient journey or the draft editor. The test goes to you.
- Open the send menu — Choose Bulk send when recipients are ready.
- Send now — Choose Send now from the send menu.
- Confirm the dialog — Confirm the send on Send campaign to …? The first email cannot be undone.
- Remove recipients — Choose Cancel on the recipient menu.
Contact Overview activity records Added to, Removed from, and Completed for the campaign name. Chat can show campaign cards and draft previews. On a campaign page, chat hides the cards for that same campaign.
How sequences behave
Deal campaigns on the Outreach tab follow the same rules as sidebar campaigns. Open Settings on the sequence editor to review reply handling and delivery windows. Launch-specific steps live in Launching a deal.
Campaign and sequence reference
How does Lev handle replies during a campaign?
Lev classifies inbound mail on connected threads and updates enrollments accordingly.
- Same contact, same thread — Lev pulls the reply into the conversation, updates placement or recipient status when AI tracking applies, and exits that person from the campaign sequence (same as a normal Reply in Settings).
- Different contact, same thread — When someone else replies on the outreach thread (for example a colleague you added on To), Lev pulls that message into the thread. Campaign handling follows the same reply rules for that enrollment.
- Same contact, new thread — Email that is not on the original thread may not attach automatically. Forward the thread to assistant@lev.com with deal context, or send from Lev to keep the conversation tracked. Off-platform handling is covered in Launching a deal.
What happens when someone sends an out-of-office reply?
Lev treats an out-of-office message as OOO in Settings and reschedules the campaign for that recipient instead of exiting the sequence. The next automated step waits until after the return window Lev can read from the message.
Can I change the first email at launch without editing the campaign?
Yes. When you launch into a campaign, edits in the composer override the first email for that launch only. They do not update the campaign's first step template. Follow-up steps always use the sequence copy—you change those on the Sequence tab, not in the launch composer.
Can I add or remove steps after launch?
Once the campaign has started for at least one recipient, you cannot add or delete steps. You can unlock a live step to edit subject or body (changes apply to everyone still scheduled for that step), and you can turn follow-up steps on or off for the whole campaign. See Set sequence delays.
Why would automatic follow-ups skip someone?
Skip follow-ups for active conversations is always on. If the same person sits on multiple placements and is already in an active conversation on another placement, Lev skips automated follow-ups in this campaign while that other conversation is live.
Can I turn follow-ups on or off for one launch only?
No. Each follow-up step's on/off toggle is campaign-wide. It applies to everyone enrolled on that step—not only the batch you are launching now. Turning a step off cancels it for all recipients still waiting on it; messages already sent cannot be recalled.
What if I launched with follow-up steps turned off?
Steps that were off when someone entered the campaign are not scheduled for them. You can turn a step on later for recipients still active who have not reached that step yet, but Lev does not retroactively send follow-ups someone already skipped or finished past.
How do delays and send times work?
After the first email, each step waits hours (1–23) or business days (1–90). Business-day steps can set Send at for an Eastern Time send on the due day.
Campaign email sends only inside this window:
| Day | Send window (ET) |
|---|---|
| Monday–Thursday | 9:00 AM–6:00 PM |
| Friday | 9:00 AM–2:00 PM |
Skip weekends & holidays is always on. Due dates on a weekend or holiday roll to the next business day.
Which holidays count as non-business days?
Lev uses a US federal holiday calendar for business-day delays. You cannot add custom holidays or regional calendars today.
Observed holidays include New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents' Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas (including standard Monday or Friday observances when a fixed date falls on a weekend).
