Deal screening lets you compare an Inbox thread with your buy box. Open the thread and select *Screen deal*. Lev reads the thread and returns a Screen result with a recommendation and buy box factor pills. Save a [buy box](/learn/originate/buy-box) before you screen.

## Screen a thread {#screen-a-thread}

- **Open the thread** — In Inbox, open the thread you want to screen.
- **Start the screen** — Click *Screen deal* on the thread.
- **Follow the run** — The control shows the current step, from reading the thread through comparing it with your buy box and writing the recommendation.

If you have not saved a buy box, Lev shows Set up your buy box first. *Set up buy box* opens the Buy box page.

## Read the Screen result {#read-the-screen-result}

The Screen result on the Inbox thread shows the recommendation, the rationale, and what you can do next.

- **Read the recommendation** — On the Screen result, the status shows *Accept*, *Needs Review*, or *Reject*, followed by the written rationale.
- **Open the deal** — Select the deal name on the panel to open that deal.
- **Add it to a pipeline** — Click *Add to pipeline*.
- **Choose the destination** — Select a **Pipeline** and a **Deal type**, then click *Add to pipeline*, which also removes the deal from screening.
- **Check the Inbox list** — The thread shows *Screened* beside the deal, with the same recommendation.
- **When the deal already exists** — Lev reports This deal already exists, adds the thread to that deal, and offers *View deal*.
- **When Lev finds no deal** — The thread shows *Screened — no deal found*, and Lev reports that it did not create a deal from this thread.

A screened thread keeps *Screened* after you reject the result or add the deal to another pipeline. A thread with no deal keeps *Screened — no deal found*.

## Buy box factor pills {#buy-box-factor-pills}

**Buy box factors** are the colored pills on a Screen result, with the rationale. A green pill is an approved factor, a red pill is a rejected factor, and a blue pill is a factor that needs review. The words on the pill are the part of the deal Lev compared with your buy box.

Hover a pill to read the criterion and the detail for that factor. Pills are omitted when the screen has none. *Manage buy box* on the same panel opens the Buy box page when the result suggests the mandate should change. Edit that mandate in **[Buy box](/learn/originate/buy-box)**.

## Deal Screen {#deal-screen}

**Deal Screen** is the pipeline where a screened opportunity lands. The page header includes *Manage Buy Box*, which opens the Buy box page. An empty Deal Screen explains that Lev compares each Inbox opportunity with your buy box.

Adding a deal that Lev recommended rejecting, or changing its status from *Reject* to *Accept* or *Needs Review*, asks you to review the buy box. The message is Lev recommended rejecting this deal. *Review buy box* opens the Buy box page so you can update the mandate before you treat the new status as the fit you want. Edit that mandate in **[Buy box](/learn/originate/buy-box)**.

**[Inbox](/learn/originate/inbox)** — read the screen result on the thread after you screen.
