Campaigns let you enroll CRM contacts in an email sequence that is not attached to a deal. *Campaigns* is in the sidebar when that area is available on your account. You build the sequence, enroll recipients, and launch after you confirm an immediate send. A template step sends the same copy to every recipient. An agent-written step drafts a unique email for each person before you launch. Deal campaigns stay on the deal's Outreach page and are covered in [Launching a Deal](/learn/deals/launching-deals).

## Create a campaign {#create-a-campaign}

- **Open Campaigns** — Select *Campaigns* in the sidebar.
- **Create the campaign** — Choose *Create campaign*.
- **Name it** — Enter *Name*, then *Create campaign*.
- **Choose the first email** — When the dialog shows *How to start this campaign:*, choose *Template email* or *Agent written email*. Drafting those emails is covered in [Agent-written campaign drafts](#agent-written-campaign-drafts).
- **Open the sequence** — On the campaign, select the *Sequence* tab. The *Recipients* tab is where enrollment and launch happen.

## Set sequence delays {#set-sequence-delays}

Each step after the first waits before it sends. The wait is either hours or business days.

- **Add a step** — On the *Sequence* tab, add the next email. Choose *Template email* for the same copy to every recipient. *Agent written email* is covered in [Agent-written campaign drafts](#agent-written-campaign-drafts).
- **Set an hour delay** — Select *hours*, then enter a whole number from 1 to 23.
- **Set a business-day delay** — Select *business days*, then enter a whole number from 1 to 90.
- **Set the send time** — Choose *Send at* for the ET send time on a business-day delay. An hour delay has no send time.

## Agent-written campaign drafts {#agent-written-campaign-drafts}

An **agent-written** step drafts a unique email for each recipient before you launch, on a campaign opened from the sidebar. Deal sequences keep *Template email*; *Write with AI* on a deal composer is covered in [Launching a Deal](/learn/deals/launching-deals).

- **Add the step** — On a campaign opened from *Campaigns* in the sidebar, open the *Sequence* tab, add a step, and choose *Agent written email*. *Template email* sends the same copy to every recipient. *Change step type* switches an existing step.
- **Write the instructions** — Enter the prompt, or start from *Quick intro*, *Follow up*, or *Thank you*.
- **Draft the recipients** — Recipients in *Draft needed* are waiting on those messages. Choose the banner button that drafts that recipient count. The banner states that Lev Agent writes each message for you to review before anything sends.
- **Edit a draft** — Open the recipient and choose *Edit this message*, then *Save changes*. Variables in the draft stay visible while you edit.
- **Regenerate** — Choose *Re-draft message* on the recipient menu, or *Regenerate drafts for this step* on the sequence step.

Sending an agent-written step charges credits. The sequence shows that cost on the step. A recipient can pause when credits are insufficient. *Send test* and *Send now* stay on the campaign, after the drafts are ready.

## Filter recipients {#filter-recipients}

The *Recipients* tab lists everyone enrolled. *Filter recipients* opens *Status*, and each recipient sits in one status. A selected row can also show the contact's primary email and *Last contact*.

- **Ready to send** — Drafts are in place and the recipient can launch.
- **Draft needed** — An agent-written step still needs a draft. Drafting is covered in [Agent-written campaign drafts](#agent-written-campaign-drafts).
- **Conflict** — Launch is blocked, for example by another live campaign, a daily send cap, or a send already in flight.
- **Active** — The recipient is in the sequence.
- **Paused** — The sequence is paused for that recipient. *Pause* and *Resume* are on the recipient menu. *Remove and resume* appears when something is blocking resume.
- **Exited** — The recipient has left the sequence. Selecting the group includes every exit reason.
- **Completed** — The sequence finished.
- **Replied** — The recipient replied, and the sequence stopped.
- **Cancelled** — You chose *Cancel* on that recipient, and they left the sequence.
- **Bounced** — The email bounced.
- **Declined** — The recipient declined.
- **Relaunched** — The recipient was relaunched onto another sequence.

*Exited* selects every reason in that group. *Clear filters* removes the status filter. *Cancel* on the recipient menu records the reason *Cancelled* inside that group.

## Enroll and launch {#enroll-and-launch}

Enrollment adds people. Launch is a separate step, and an immediate send asks you to confirm first.

- **Enroll recipients** — On the campaign, choose *Enroll*. From a CRM table, or a lead-results table that shows a *Campaigns* column, choose *Add to campaign*.
- **Review the row** — The row shows the contact's primary email. Open the recipient to see *Last contact* when a prior exchange exists. Choose *Open thread* to open the Inbox conversation.
- **Draft before you send** — If the banner says recipients need their messages drafted, finish that step in [Agent-written campaign drafts](#agent-written-campaign-drafts) before launch.
- **Send a test** — Choose *Send test* from the recipient journey or the draft editor. The test goes to you.
- **Open the send menu** — Choose *Bulk send* when recipients are ready.
- **Send now** — Choose *Send now* from the send menu.
- **Confirm the dialog** — Confirm the send on *Send campaign to …?* The first email cannot be undone.
- **Remove recipients** — Choose *Cancel* on the recipient menu.

Contact Overview activity records *Added to*, *Removed from*, and *Completed* for the campaign name. Chat can show campaign cards and draft previews while the campaign is open.
